Sensational Salad Servers
My favourite salad servers are from Nova Scotia artisans, MacLean Bros. Woodworking.
The thin, curved rectangular wood design is the sleekest and most elegant I’ve ever seen. They are also fabulously practical: paddle-like, rather than fork-like, so nothing falls through them; and their quarter-note tail at the top means they hang from the lip of a salad bowl and never fall in. Whenever people dine at my place, they always ask where I got my salad servers, and all my friends in France have been given them as gifts (at their request!). My salad servers are teak from a few years ago. I notice that MacLean Bros now make them in maple.
